Arm Lift
Conveniently located to serve Tacoma

An arm lift, also called a brachioplasty, removes excess fat and skin from the upper arm. The target area is typically the part between the armpit and elbow, where skin usually sags due to weight loss, aging, or weak muscles. If you want tighter and more toned upper arms, come to use for an arm lift in Tacoma.

What Is an Arm Lift?

Sagging skin on the upper arms cannot be reduced through exercise, but an arm lift can help. It gets rid of flabby underarms by removing the extra skin, removing excess stubborn fat, tightening the underlying tissues, and smoothing out the remaining skin. As a result, it gives your arms the defined aesthetic they need for a slimmer and fitter you.

Am I a Good Candidate for an Arm Lift?

Arm lift surgery is quite common among people who have lost significant weight and are now left with “bat wings” or “bingo wings.” It is ideal for people who are embarrassed about showing off their arms but are tired of hiding them in sleeves.

You are an ideal candidate for an arm lift if you want to remove excess upper-arm skin and fat, are at a healthy weight, and can maintain a stable weight. The best candidates are non-smokers and have a realistic expectation of the procedure’s results.

Your Arm Lift Consultation

Before brachioplasty surgery, you will be required to come for a consultation, during which you will go over your surgical goals. Your surgeon will perform an examination of your arms, and photographs may be taken.

Your general health status and risk factors will be evaluated during the consultation. Your complete medical history will be discussed. This will include pre-existing medical conditions, previous medical treatments, and drug allergies. Your current medications and supplements will also be discussed, along with any use of tobacco, alcohol, or drugs.

If you are considered a qualified candidate for arm lift surgery, your surgeon will go over your options, along with the likely results of the arm lift and potential complications. Questions are welcome at any time during this consultation.

The Brachioplasty Procedure

A typical arm lift procedure will give the patient more defined upper arms after one to four hours of surgery. The patient will receive either general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation.

The surgeon will create an incision from the elbow to the armpit. A minimal-incision arm lift may be performed in situations where less tissue removal is needed; this is usually made close to the armpit area. In other cases, a larger incision may be needed and may run from the elbow to the side of the torso.

Excess fat is removed through liposuction, and excess skin is removed to allow for skin tightening. After the skin is redraped, the incisions are closed with stitches.

The Recovery Process

Follow the surgeon’s post-surgery instructions closely to ensure high-quality results after your brachioplasty. This can include information about wound care, medications, warning signs to watch out for, and schedules for follow-up appointments.

During recovery, you might be required to wear a compression garment to reduce swelling or have a temporary drainage tube in the target arm to drain blood or fluid. If you are a smoker, you will need to avoid smoking during recovery to help your arm heal properly; tobacco use prevents proper healing and increases your risk of infection.

Sutures can be removed within a week or two during a follow-up appointment. You may need two weeks of downtime before you can resume a routine, but it may take around six weeks to recover from the procedure fully.

You will see tighter and more toned arms immediately after the procedure. Once all swelling has disappeared, the final results will be apparent.
